Mauritius Market Watch | June 8th 2015: Mauritius equity market composite index up by 20bps
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity market indices starts in a positive territory today, the SEMDEX index went up by 0.20 percent to reach 1,974.65 points and the Sem-10 rose by 0.22 percent to 374.96 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 219.536 billion (against MUR 219.108 billion recorded on Friday) and overall total volume trade recorded at 5.8 million and turnover amounted to MUR 65.609 million.
The market sentiment was positive today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) calculated at 1.2x with 7 advancers and 6 decliners. Topping the price gainers were BLUELIFE Limited Mauritius gained 4.08 percent to close at MUR 5.10, New Mauritius Hotels advanced by 1.61 percent to settle at MUR 63.00 and ENL Land Limited Mauritius gained 0.76 percent to trade at MUR 45.30. On the other hand, Lottotech Mauritius and Automatic System Limited fell by 0.75 percent and 0.50 percent with closing price of MUR 5.26 and MUR 40.00 respectively. Likewise, Mauritius Oil & Refinery went down by 0.36 percent to close at MUR 27.90 and Gemma Civic Limited plummeted by 0.34 percent to close at MUR 29.00.
On the DEM counter, the DEMEX index surged by 0.70 percent to close at 207.69 points and market capitalization of MUR 49.300 billion (added MUR 330 million) and market turnover of MUR 1.5 million on volume of 55,490. The gainers were SODIA, MED & SURG and ASCENCIA CLASS A rose by 6.06 percent, 2.08 percent and 0.38 percent to close at MUR 0.35, MUR 2.45 and MUR 13.15 respectively. While Constance Hotel was the only loser, by losing 0.26 percent to conclude at MUR 38.30.
